EKKA will pilot assessment of continuing education

From this autumn EKKA will develop and start implementing a quality assurance system for continuing education.

The two year project financed by the Ministry of Education and Research has two main objectives:

• To develop and launch a system for checking the compliance of providers registered in the Estonian Education Information System with relevant legislation.
• To develop and pilot, in cooperation with stakeholders, a quality label system for continuing education providers.

The project will include devising assessment methodology, selecting and training qualified experts and performing compliance checks of roughly 140 continuing education providers. On top of that, EKKA will analyse training needs of providers revealed during the assessments and provide relevant training and counselling. The ultimate aim of the project is to support the providers in developing  a functioning quality assurance system. The first assessments and trainings will take place in autumn 2018.

The quality label system foreseen in the second phase of the project should on the one hand give reassurance to learners on the quality of education, on the other hand to give incentives to education providers to systematically monitor and improve the quality of the education they provide.
