EKKA piloting thematic assessment in 2018
The Estonian Quality Agency for Higher and Vocational Education (EKKA) will conduct a thematic assessment in the second semester of 2018 on the learning and teaching experience of foreign students in Estonian higher education institutions.
The objective of the assessment is to get an overview of best practices as well as shortcomings related to learning, teaching, supervision and counselling of foreign students.
The assessment will focus on the following areas: strategies for opening study programmes in foreign languages at higher education institutions; admission requirements and procedures; teaching and learning, including cultural diversity aspects of study environment, teaching methods, language skills of students and teaching staff etc.; work placement arrangements for foreign students as well as their employment statistics post graduation; support systems in place for students and teaching staff including integration and language courses, academic career counselling etc.
The assessment methodology will include reviewing of documents, site visits and interviews.
