Quality assessment of a study programme group involves the assessment of the conformity of study programmes and the studies and development activities that take place on their basis to legislation, national and international standards and developmental directions with the purpose of providing recommendations to improve the quality of studies.
\nThe goal of quality assessment of a study programme group is supporting the internal evaluation and self-development of the institution of higher education. Quality assessment of study programme groups is not followed by sanctions: expert assessments should be considered recommendations.<\/p>\n

Study Programme Group<\/h2>\n

A study programme group is a subdivision of study programmes (based on the ISCED97 levels and fields) which is established in annexes to the standard of higher education and which contains features of fields of study and curriculum groups.<\/p>\n

There are all together 28 study programme groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Teacher training and educational science<\/td>\nBusiness and administration<\/td>\nArchitecture and building<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Humanities\u00a0(excluding theology)<\/td>\nSocial services<\/td>\nEngineering, manufacturing and technology<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Languages and cultures<\/td>\nPersonal services<\/td>\nAgriculture, forestry and fishery<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Arts\u00a0(fine arts, graphic and audiovisual arts, design, craft skills)<\/td>\nNational defence<\/td>\nVeterinary<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Performing arts<\/td>\nPublic security<\/td>\nMedicine\u00a0(including dental services)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Theology<\/td>\nLife sciences<\/td>\nHealth care<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Results of assessment<\/h2>\n

The result of quality assessment is a decision of the EKKA assessment council which sets out whether the next assessment will take place in seven years or in a shorter time, and specific suggestions for the educational institution to improve the quality of its studies.<\/p>\n

When does the assessment take place?<\/h2>\n

Quality assessment of study programme groups begins after institutions of higher education have obtained the right to conduct studies in a study programme group as a result of transitional evaluation or (in the case of applying to conduct studies in a new study programme group) quality assessment of studies.
\nQuality assessment of a study programme group takes place at least once every 7 years.<\/p>\n
